Michele grew up in Mahopac, New York, just north of New York City. She attended Tufts University in Boston where she graduated Magna Cum Laude, and then received a Masters degree in educational leadership at Central Connecticut State University. After working in higher education for two years, she went to work in the Massachusetts State Senate for the Senate Chair of the Joint Committee on Education, where she gained extensive policy expertise in K-12 education. In that role, Michele was active in shaping the 2010 Massachusetts education reform legislation as well as school bullying legislation. While working in the State House, Michele attended the evening program at Suffolk University Law School, graduating Magna Cum Laude in the spring of 2011.
